The GuruPlug is a product of GlobalScale Technologies. So far there are two different versions (and a third one in development): the GuruPlug Server standard and the GuruPlug Server Plus. The third one is the GuruPlug Display.

GuruPlug Server standard

The standard version of the GuruPlug family comes with the most important interfaces: Network, USB, U-Snap and JTAG/UART.

GuruPlug Server Plus

In addition to the standard version, the GuruPlug Server Plus has a second network interface and an eSata interface. The additional eSata interface can be used for high speed data transfer from an eSata hard drive or a storage solution like a DAS. With the additional network interface, the GuruPlug can be used as gateway between the homenetwork and the Internet or two other networks.

GuruPlug Display

The thing which is missing on both, the GuruPlug Server Standard and the GuruPlug Server Plus is a display port. The GuruPlug Display comes with 4 USB-ports, one mini USB port and, the most important, an A/V HDMI port.

Since this plugcomputer is not yet available, The GuruPlug Display is available now! I am very excited to see it's possibilities. GlobalScale advertises the device to "Serve up your video, pictures, and audio in High Definition" (source - not available any more). Since the hardware block diagram only shows the HDMI transmitter TDA9989 and the HDMI-port, I am wondering if it will be really possible to play HD-video. Maybe there will be a hardware decoder? Or does the TDA9989 provide hardware decoding? ...waiting for the answer ;)
